A memorable trip to California

In April, Zildy and the kids decided to take a wild trip where we visited both coasts in the U.S. in 2 days! Guess who's idea that was? Well, it ended up getting turned upside down and was still pretty crazy, but in different ways.

We rode the bus and went to Seal Beach and then had ice cream and walked around the cute shops in that area.
But when it came time to head back to the airport for our red eye flight to Florida, we found out the flights were all full. So we were faced with a decision. We had to stay for our second day in California, but we could either get a hotel and hang out at the same beach the next day, or we could rent a car and explore further north, like Hollywood, etc. So it was hotel, or car. Not both. And if we picked car, that's where we would sleep, (in the name of adventure, of course). The kids thought about it and decided they would rather sleep in a rental car and have the freedom of checking out other places. So that's what we did. We had to get creative about how to entertain ourselves late at night so we drove north a while and then came up with a plan to hop around to different fast food places, trying a different food at each one. At Jack in the Box we found a ridiculous piece of artwork that gave us a lot of laughs.

Then we went to our favorite dollar store that we don't have in Utah. We drove down Hollywood Blvd and saw all of the cool sights there, like the famous Grauman's Chinese Theater.

Then late at night we parked in a Safeway parking lot and did our best to get a little shut eye. Early in the morning we drove the windy roads up to the Hollywood sign, or at least as close as we could get. The kids were scared of how tiny and windy the roads were, and it was a good thing there was no one else on the road at that time. It was still kind of dark but very pretty sight to see.

Then we headed to the beach because Zildy had the brilliant idea to go see the sunrise at the beach. We got there only to realize we were on the wrong coast for that. Haha! Instead, we found a cute little diner and had a yummy breakfast. We also went to a couple of local thrift stores, just for fun.

After that we hung out at Manhattan Beach for a while, before heading home. Phew! That was quite the adventure!
