The rest of August was filled with some last minute fun before school started. Harry Potter Day at Gardner Village was fun with Zuri. Taye went on another camping trip with the Young Men. Kai Chase went to Europe for a dance competition so Leah came to pick him up from the airport and we got to spend the day together. Carina had a fun birthday party at the Westerner. And school started! 8th grade for Taye and 4th grade for Zuri!

Trip to Puerto Rico!
Mom had promised the kids a trip to somewhere in the Caribbean and this year it finally happened! We decided to go to Puerto Rico because we didn't need passports. It was an amazing trip! Here are some of the highlights:
-Having seafood right by the beach
-The water was soooo clear!
-We rented a cute little shuttle bus van
-Going to Fajardo and feeling famous
-The natural water slides. We got there early and there was only a few people there. When we left it was packed. Taye and mom went down the slide. It was awesome! Taye also did cliff jumping.
-Took a ferry boat to the island of Culebra and swam in the super warm water. The kids loved getting splashed on the way there, and mom almost threw up. Then we walked around the island and had pizza. The ride back was beautiful in the moonlight and the waters were much calmer by then.
-Going to the rainforest, El Yunque. Mom literally cried happy tears driving in, and Shayden made us listen to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. The views were beautiful and it was extremely humid and hot. It was absolutely wonderful.
-Tayevion falling in love with Pastelios de Pizza.
-Looking for good food at the Kioskos de Luquillo. The food was not our favorite (other than the pastelios that Taye loved.
-Having a spa night in our condo one night. The first two nights we stayed at an airbnb in the rainforest and the rest of the time we were in a condo very close to the beach.
-The three older kids took surfing lessons! The water was perfect and all of the kids did fantastic! We also had a delicious Pina Colada.
-An amazing experience we had was going to the Bioluminescence bay at night in Fajardo. There are only 5 places in the world where you can see this phenomenon. We couldn't take any pictures but it was amazing. We rode in kayaks about a mile into the bay to see the marine plankton glow in the water. It was incredible.
-We went to Old San Juan for our last day. There happened to be a local market where we bought souvenirs. We walked around and did some shopping and Shayden went to see El Morro. The rest of us rode a boat and had a tour of it by water.
-Heading home was an adventure where we slept in the airport one night.
It was such a wonderful trip we'll remember forever!
